ClearMask launches new anti-fog, transparent surgical mask with tight and secure fit

The ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Mask Plus
ClearMask LLC, a privately held American medical supply company, announced today that it has launched a new product line, the ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Mask Plus.
“We are proud to introduce a transparent mask design with a filter material that provides a form-fitting and tight fit to meet our customers’ needs, especially for children, older adults, deaf and hard of hearing people, and those who benefit from visual communication,” said Allysa Dittmar, President of ClearMask.
In 2020, ClearMask LLC’s ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Mask received FDA 510(k) clearance as a Class II medical device, becoming the world’s first and only FDA-cleared, fully transparent surgical mask for use in hospitals, clinics, and other settings. In 2021, the product line also met the CE Marking requirements as a Class I medical device for use in the European Union. To date, no other transparent masks meet both certifications.
The ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Mask Plus is the newest product in ClearMask LLC’s growing portfolio of novel transparent masks. The new transparent surgical mask features a secure fit and similarly helps to improve visual communication and provide protection at an affordable price. The mask meets applicable requirements for fluid resistance (ASTM F1862) and flammability (16 CFR Part 1610), offering a high level of protection for medical use in environments such as operating rooms. FDA 510(k) filing is in progress for the ClearMask™ Transparent Surgical Mask Plus, which is currently available for use under the FDA’s COVID-19 mask enforcement policy.
Through its fully transparent, proprietary anti-fog plastic barrier, the ClearMask™ brand helps improve visual communication, which may help avoid costly errors and adverse outcomes. Studies have also shown that clear communication is crucial in establishing rapport and earning trust.

The ClearMask™ brand is also available through Cardinal Health, Grainger, Henry Schein, McKesson, Oaktree Products, and Owens & Minor, and ClearMask is currently onboarding distributors for the new masks.
